College admission chances calculator
Compare your GPA and test scores with the students a college admitted, and see whether it is a reach, a target or a likely school for you.
How the calculator works
It places your score within the range of the middle 50% of enrolled students and combines that with the college's acceptance rate.
- Reach means your scores are below the middle range, or the college admits fewer than 15% of applicants. At those colleges even perfect scores don't guarantee a place.
- Target means your scores fall within the middle range at a college that admits a reasonable share of applicants.
- Likely means your scores are at or above the top of the range at a college that admits most applicants.
This is an estimate from public data, not a prediction. Essays, courses, recommendations, major and residency all count, and test-optional colleges only report scores from students who sent them.
Figures come from each college's latest Common Data Set where we have checked it, and otherwise from the College Scorecard release of October 15, 2026 (fall 2024 admissions).
